Each year, Forbes announces the highest-paid actors and actresses salaries before taxes. Going into 2020, The Rock and Scarlett Johansson have been named the top-earning actor and actress, making $89.4 million and $56 million, respectively. Even though both are part of the Hollywood elite, there is a definite wage-gap that can be seen between the two.
Despite the noticeable pay-gap, there is a reason these stars are on the highest-paid list. Each of them works endless hours to produce critically-acclaimed work that will hopefully be a box office success. Keep reading to learn what some of the top-stars are earning.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: $89.4 Million
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has come a long way from having only seven dollars in his pocket! From college football to wrestling and, finally, to Hollywood, The Rock has been apart of almost every spectrum of entertainment. Today, he is one of the highest-paid actors in the industry, securing $89.4 million.
It's not surprising that he earns such a substantial sum, as The Rock is very well-known and has been included in high-profile films such as Jumanji and Moana. His most recent film, Disney's Jungle Cruise, which he stars alongside Emily Blunt, is set to release in July 2020.
Scarlett Johansson: $56 Million
Scarlett Johansson began making a name for herself in 1996 when she landed the role of Amanda in Manny & Lo. From there, she became the third highest-grossing box office star, accruing around $14.3 billion worldwide for all of her films. Johansson has been the highest-paid actress in the industry since 2018, earning $56 million annually.
In 2019, Johansson was honored with two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress. While she didn't secure the win, she has landed 42 awards throughout her career. Going from off-broadway plays to portraying the Black Widow in the MCU, Johansson has had quite the career!
Chris Hemsworth: $76.4 Million

Sofia Vergara began her career in her native country of Columbia. There, she was discovered on a beach and offered modeling and television opportunities. Vergara's first job was a Pepsi commercial at the age of 17! Needless to say, she has come a long way from soda commercials, although she's been in a few throughout her career.
Vergara is probably best known for her role as Gloria on the critically-acclaimed sitcom Modern Family. And while the show isn't the only production Vergara has worked on, it did help her become one of the best-paid actresses in the world, earning $43 million.
Robert Downey Jr.: $66 Million
Making his acting debut at the age of five, Robert Downey Jr. is now one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. Downey Jr.'s films have grossed over $14.4 billion worldwide, making him the second highest-grossing box office actor. Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman made her Hollywood debut in 1990 with the role of Dr. Claire Lewicki in Days of Thunder.
