It Would Take 2.8 Million Years To Earn As Much As Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world with a net worth of over $130 billion. QuartzNews recently calculated that it would take an average worker 2.8 million years to make as much as the Amazon founder.

According to a 2018 survey by the U.S. Bureau of Labor, the average full-time worker in the United States makes $46,000 annually. If this person spends no money on rent, bills, or taxes, it would take more than 21,000 years to save just $1 billion of his $130 billion fortune. To put that into some crazy perspective, that's the same amount of time it's taken for civilization to evolve from cave-dwelling inhabitants to the current day. To reach the full $130 billion, it would take almost 2.8 million years of work, which is longer than the existence of homo sapiens.

What makes it even worse is that those who work for Bezo's company Amazon, the comparison is even bleaker. The lowest paid, full-time worker at Amazon makes around $31,200 each year. This means it would take 4.15 million years to earn as much as the founder.
