Cringe-Worthy Home Design And Architecture That Will Have You Asking “Why?”
"A home is where the heart is" is an age-old saying that some people should not take to, well, heart, considering some of the cringe-worthy displays of architecture and design they think are suitable.
These upcoming questionable homes prove some people should put their feelings aside and let the professionals take over.
Fake Grass In The Bathroom Is A Solid No

There is nothing quite like stepping out of a nice warm bath onto some tough fake grass (yes, that's sarcasm).
Not only is the color of the bath questionable, but the decision to put long turf-like material on the floor is something that people will most likely never understand, aside from those who made the decision.
Drawers, Drawers, And More Drawers

Sorry, but there really is no need for this many drawers and cabinets in one bathroom. No matter how many hair products, heating appliances, makeup, and other toiletries a person has, it is not enough to warrant a dizzying amount of places to put them.
Seriously, this is disorganization at its finest. How do they find anything?
Everything About This Layout Is Questionable

There is no way to know what this homeowner thought when they went to an architect with this cringe-worthy home design. They might have said something along the lines of, "you know the typical layouts of a home? Well, do the exact opposite."
And they did just that, placing two windows on the top floor, none on the bottom, and opting to situate the front doorway off to the side. Because what is a garage, if not a focal point?
Skating Is Apparently Permitted In This Home

It is unclear what the homeowner's vision was for this bedroom. If it was supposed to resemble a skate park, then they were spot on with the strange ramp on the one side of the room.
The only thing is if someone actually decided to use the ramp, their head would go straight through the ceiling.
No One Is Allowed To Get To The Refridgerator

If used properly, sliding doors can be a very pretty addition to a home. It gives a simple door a bit of character! It's too bad this homeowner decided a typical sliding door wasn't good enough, going for something that resembled the bars to a prison jail cell.
Is no one allowed into the kitchen, or is the refrigerator in an indefinite timeout?
Taller. It Needs To Be Taller

While there is nothing wrong with a three-story house, this particular example is a bit too much to handle. Instead of making a super skinny and tall home, the homeowner could have made a super long and wide home, making it easier to navigate and a lot more pleasing to look at.
Oh, and maybe they could have ditched the baby pink paint, too.
Who Needs Windows?

When designing a home, most people like a lot of natural sunlight. It looks not only pretty but it also keeps electric costs down. Clearly, this homeowner really didn't care about the perks of windows.
They decided four on the bottom floor, and one on the top floor was plenty.
Busy, Distracting, And Way Too Much Peach

Many people on the coast love a good nautical theme for their home decor. Unfortunately, no one taught this person the concept of subtly.
Not only is there a fake palm tree in the corner, but they went all out with three fake birds, a sailboat rug, and a whole lot of peach-colored paint with white trim.
Close Enough

For those with a little OCD, this is one house they'll never want to visit. Either the homeowners didn't necessarily care that their front steps were not centered with the door, or the architect made one horrible mistake.
The uncentered nature of the entire thing is very difficult to look at for an extended period of time.
What's The Point?

Have it be a wind guard, to deter birds or something else altogether, this homeowner better have a great explanation for the large fence-like structure on the top of their house.
Not only is it very distracting, but if it was solely to put a camera on the siding, there are a lot of other ways to go about it.
A Sad Little Island

Having an island in a kitchen is great, allowing for a bit more room to put meal preparation supplies. While islands are known to give people more room to work with, this little island really doesn't have much of a job.
This tiny island is good for about one bowl and maybe a lemon, and even that's being generous. They were better off not having an island altogether.
A Modern Home With A Medieval Flair

Most people would go on the wild assumption that the modern, white part of the home was definitely there first. There is no way the medieval castle portion of the home was in the original blueprints.
Then again, maybe the designer had a flair for the dramatic and decided the modern home needed a castle entryway.
Because Everyone Needs A Bronze Bathtub On Wheels

There is a lot to unpack with this bathroom design, starting with the need for three levels. Did no one think about how slippery those stairs would be when wet?
Even so, the bigger aspect of the design that needs questioning is the bronze bathtub on wheels and gaudy ottoman, two items that don't go with any of the other modern amenities.
The Off-Centered Fireplace Hurts To Look At

How people are okay with off-centered things in their homes is a question for the ages. Alas, this homeowner doesn't seem to mind that their fireplace and mantle are completely off-center from the bricks.
Does it hurt to look at? Yes. Are they going to get it fixed? Most likely not in the near future because it will undoubtedly cost a lot of money.
Watch Your Step

While the strange door is most likely to an attic of sorts, it doesn't explain the weird design this homeowner has going on with their staircase.
It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "watch your step," since more than one person most likely stubbed their toes with the cringe-worthy landing. If for no other reason than being distracted at the random pole and losing their footing.
This All-In-One Room Is Horrible

There is nothing wrong with a studio apartment, but there is something to be said about layout. And this layout just doesn't cut it.
The split level is great, giving an illusion of more space, but the bathtub on a ledge right underneath the bed is a bit too much.
For Good Drivers Only

The question here isn't why there are planks in the place of a driveway but why the designer decided to place a garage on the second story was a good idea.
Did they think the driver was going to have the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car and fly into the garage?
The Haunted Alley To The Front Door

The thing is, there is no way this home is located down an alleyway solely because, honestly, what home is located down an alleyway? No, this front door was designed to be situated between two walls, for reasons unknown.
Now, visitors have to walk down a haunted strait just to get to their friend's home. No doubt no one visits at night.
Jump Over The Fence To Get To The Front Door

Some people enjoy putting fences around their front yard, giving them a bit of privacy from foot traffic. However, a fence usually means there is a gate, so people are able to get into the house.
Nope, not this house! To get inside, people actually have to hop over the fence.
They Weren't Sure What Style To Go With, So They Did Both

Once upon a time, this home looked as though it was one story. Then the family decided it wanted more room, which is fine. It is just too bad their contractor didn't stop them from making this strange addition.
With two very different styles, it literally looks like two homes that were glued together.
