Disposable Things You’re Totally Wasting Your Money On
What if we told you that you’re literally throwing your money away? That would be a sad truth, now wouldn’t it? Well, the fact is, there are plenty of disposable items that most people are consistently purchasing for their household that they could be saving money on, instead. There are plenty of companies out there designing products that can help you not only save money but reduce your impact on the environment. It’s time to ditch your single-use habit and save some money while you’re at it.

Water Bottles
In the United States, the bottled water industry grossed $11.8 billion in 2012. This means that Americans are spending 300x the amount that tap water would cost them, and each year the number increases. You can save this money by investing in water filtration, either directly connected to your faucet, or in a pitcher, and purchasing a few insulating reusable water bottles for each member of the family. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to make the switch and wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
Paper Napkins
How many paper napkins do you go through each day? A household of four people can go through quite a bit! Consider picking up some reusable cloth napkins. They’re cheap, and they’ll save you money in the long run. Often, you can use them a few times before needing to send them through the wash. You can also pick a different color napkin for each member of the family, so they know which ones are theirs. Hey, they’re kind of fancier too!
Use Utensils and Containers Twice
It’s a natural habit to toss plastic utensils, cups, and food storage containers after one use, but they’re good for one more! Clean them up and it’s totally fine to reuse plastic items like these, which will save both the environment and your wallet. Containers for food products like butter and sour cream make for excellent storage containers, even if you only use them one more time. Every effort counts.
